What is a Whale Sac?
A Whale Sac is a tie-on, whale-shaped grip bag that is designed to dry your wet/sweaty hands during activities and sports that require hand and finger grip. The tail will tie to your bag, belt loop, etc. for easy access. Grab a sac and roll it in your hands, between fingers, you also can rub onto your disc, equipment, etc. Filling: clay based stone/powder - non-rosin, cleaner than chalk. The Creator
Tina Oakley (that's me!) is the owner and operator of Whale Sacs. The beginning of Whale Sacs came about in my first year of playing disc golf in Wisconsin where the summers are hot and humid. My family is extremely creative, it runs in our genes so I've taken interest in numerous hobbies including disc golf, sewing, gardening, travel, pottery and many others, which led to the creation of the Whale Sac that exists today. Originally the Whale Sac was simply a square pouch with whale themed fabric, but over time it transformed into this Whale shaped, tie-on sac.
This section used to say "Tina 's dream is to be a touring professional disc golfer" but we've come a LONG way thanks to you and many supporters of Whale Sacs. NOW I can happily write that I spent years as a touring Professional Disc Golfer! How cool is that!? My dream now is to spread these happy whales around the country and hopefully the world as well as tending to a garden at home in Pensacola and creating art through Pottery!
Things We Stand For:
Taking Care of the planet/Being Green
Saving the Whales (3% of profits are donated to Save The Whales.org)
Supporting Humans through flexible jobs
Helping Our Touring Disc Golfers Make a living on the road
The Team
Now that the business has grown, I can no longer make each one of these myself so they are handmade by outstanding humans all over the United States - we call them the Whalers. We are (now) based out of Pensacola, FL. After 7 years of handling too many aspects of the business, a change occured and I had the opportunity to employ many friends who currently run most aspects of the business. Without them, there is little chance you'd be able to get your hand on a Whale Sac still. We also have help with all shipping and customer communcation, and media/marketing! Check out our amazing team below!

The Beginning
Years ago I started what was called the "Whale Club". I would help mend my friend's clothes by patching them up but only using whale fabric. There were only a few handfuls of people in the whale club in the beginning. Once I began disc golfing in the hot and humid summers of the midwest, I decided to make my own hand drying bags with this same whale fabric, and so the first "Whale Sac" was born. Initially this was simply a square filled with clay, and eventually there was also a piece added to tie it onto my disc golf bag. In the summer of 2014 during the 2014 Worlds Disc Golf Championship in Portland, OR, an idea was born to make the sacs into the shape of an actual whale using the tail to tie on. Now there are countless members of the Whale Club.
Eco-Friendly Mindset
I am ALL about the environment (who doesn't love nature) which translates into the business as well. We are always working on making our product and packaging as eco-friendly as possible. There is always new research being conducted and we check that research often to make sure we are using the best resources possible.
